Portrait of Molly Shea, LCSW

Molly Shea

LCSW(she/her)

I facilitate a process of thinking and speaking about your life, with the goal of alleviating suffering and changing your relationship to painful symptoms. I work with people to meaningfully address issues such as anxious or depressed states, shame, relationship concerns, self-sabotaging behaviors, creative or career inhibitions, identity questions, and traumatic experiences. It takes courage to seek care. No matter what brings you here, my goal is to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship with you that facilitates a process of growth and healing.

I provide a steady and reliable space for you to become acquainted with the full range of your internal experience, especially those thoughts and feelings that may have been previously out of reach. I listen for how echoes of the past may show up in current circumstances and perpetuate unhelpful or destructive patterns. As you come to understand the roots of the matter, old wounds heal and you create space for a different version of yourself to emerge. Greater flexibility and more freedom in how you live, work and love become imaginable and even possible

I received my Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University specializing in Advanced Clinical Practice, and completed an intensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training Program. I am currently an advanced candidate in the Psychoanalytic Training Program at the Contemporary Freudian Society.
